The Fen Nightingale and Wonderful Willow The People's Friend April 29 and The People's Friend Special 139
Two of my historical romance short stories have appeared in The People's Friend this month. The Fen Nightingale, set in the Norfolk Broads, is about one man's discovery about a rather strange bird as well as his family roots. The illustration by Mandy Dixon is absolutely lovely.
Wonderful Willow, which is in this month's People's Friend Special, takes place in Suffolk. Matthew is sweet on local herbalist Willow, but his mother warns him never to pick flowers near her, as the family is cursed. Does he believe in the green mists and bogles? David Young has done an excellent illustration to go with this story.
