I thought I'd talk a bit about one of the sets I've been on these past few years :)
These two cards either side are artist proofs from the Maidens set produced by Sadlittles. The cards had to be gothic/evil representations of your typical maidens, such as a character from a fairy-tale.
On the right is my rather sultry looking Red Riding Hood and on the left is a female Grim Reaper.
I loved drawing both of these characters - Little Red Riding Hood is one of my favourite fairy-tales while I enjoyed coming up with a new take of the Grim Reaper. Not all of my cards that I drew for the set have been unearthed but some can be found on ebay.
There was one particular mythological figure I drew a few times for the set - the Yuki Onna. A Japanese folklore tale, the Yuki Onna is a spirit who appears in snowy areas, wearing a white kimono, and drains her victims' lifeforce.

Hello K-LDye..Is the epitaph on the gravestones from a female Grim Reaper are ramdom or ....have a sense ? Best dreams. Kind Dementor
ReplyDeleteHi,
DeleteAlmost all of the epitaphs are biblical and Hebrew mythology names; Lilith was born from the earth as Adam was, rather than being made from Adam's rib as Eve later was, and she was Adam's first wife. When she refused to become subservient to Adam she left the Garden of Eden and became a demon; Salome is the dancer of the seven veils. While Adam, Eve and Steve are all together to debunk a joke related to the Garden of Eden :) Hope I've answered all that you wanted to know.
Well.. a big thank you for this biblical and Hebrew mythology history. A simple question and i learned a lot from you. Maybe i am the only one who asked my self this kind of interrogation. You see how you know your art and history. You very well answered, and more. As usual my very best dreams, Kind Dementor.
